TPMS obligation for commercial vehicles: challenges and opportunities for tyre dealers
The BRV continues to have "mixed feelings" about the introduction of the TPMS obligation for commercial vehicles in classes N1-3, M2+3 and O3+4 (trailers and semi-trailers > 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight). As a reminder: the deadline is 7 July 2024; from then on, all newly registered commercial vehicles - both towing and towed units - must be equipped with a system for monitoring or regulating tyre pressure.
It is still unclear in many respects how the tyre service, which in the commercial vehicle segment is more than 90 percent in the hands of tyre dealers, can/must be carried out in conjunction with the TPMS system or alternative tyre pressure inflation and control systems.
Representatives of the major sensor/system and tool manufacturers want to inform tyre dealers active in the commercial vehicle tyre service sector about the current state of affairs.
